It’s tough to deny that Days of Our Lives’ EJ is nothing if not slippery. He dug the pills out of Smith Island and had Johnny leave an anonymous “tip” for Sarah about the arsenic poisoning. Now Holly’s life can be saved and DiMera is off the hook for the whole thing. Well, almost off the hook.

There are still going to be a whole lot of questions, especially once the Horton well water test results come back. But that’s not an insurmountable problem. EJ could tamper with the results easily enough (well, soap opera logic easily) since he owns the hospital and the last link to DiMera will be severed. But there’d still be a glaring question about how Holly came to be poisoned, and unless EJ takes care of that, too, everyone’s going to keep digging for answers until they hit upon him.
Unfortunately, we’re pretty sure we know how EJ’s going to deal with this last problem. Our only hope is that this time, he leaves Johnny out of it!

Because based on one particular part of the summer preview, it looks like Holly’s about to be set up! In the preview, Tate holds out a handful of pills in the hospital, while Holly insists they aren’t hers and throws him out. She’s furious, Tate’s concerned and Sarah looks about fed up with everything.
Since we know Holly’s right and she didn’t take anything, it looks like EJ’s about to plant Coriseal pills to imply that Holly took them herself! Yes, he’s willing to make everyone believe she’s using drugs again to save his own bacon.
But the only way it’ll work is if he whips up a new batch of drugs, maybe some sort of generic Coriseal laced with arsenic. Because if he plants the real stuff, then that’ll just confirm that DiMera Pharmaceuticals was behind this all.
If he’s successful, there will be no reason to believe Holly. No arsenic or Coriseal in the Horton well water, no other way for her to have gotten the drug or the poison. She could try blaming Amy or even worrying about Sophia being alive, but there wouldn’t really be any way for them to have slipped her the pills without her knowing — especially if her own antidepressants are tested and come back negative.
In other words, it looks like there’s no low that EJ won’t sink to. Sure, he saved Holly’s life, but if he’s behind the pills Tate finds in the preview, he’s also about to destroy it!
