Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander exited Thursday’s preseason game against the Montreal Canadiens after taking an awkward hit during the first period.

The incident occurred when teammate Nick Robertson attempted to push Nylander while going in for a forecheck in the neutral zone. Unfortunately, Robertson’s push was a bit forceful, causing the 28-year-old Swede to lose his balance and stumble on the ice.

This led to a collision with the leg of Habs’ center Christian Dvorak. Nylander appeared to be in significant pain after taking the hit on the head, which resulted in him leaving the ice. The Leafs then announced that he would not return for the rest of the game due to precautionary reasons.

Robertson later addressed the incident that resulted in Nylander’s exit. He acknowledged that it was a challenging play that didn’t turn out as he had hoped.

“It’s unfortunate, I was trying to give him a little boost there and it is what it is,” said Robertson. “I talked to him and he’s doing good, we’ll see how he is for the next few days.”

Craig Berube provides update on William Nylander’s health

Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube provided a positive update on Nylander’s status after the game.

“He’ll be okay, he’s fine, nothing to worry about,” said Berube.

This news comes as a relief to both the team and the fans, as they look forward to having Nylander back on the ice soon.

Meanwhile, despite Nylander’s exit, the Maple Leafs were able to defeat the Montreal Canadiens (2-1) in the preseason clash at the Scotiabank Arena.
