The game between the Los Angeles Kings versus the Nashville Predators on Monday saw some hard hits and fights break out on the ice. In the second period, Predators defenseman Luke Schenn and Kings forward Tanner Jeannot dropped their gloves and got into a brawl.

Luke Schenn aggressively landed punches on Jeannot with his left hand until they were pulled apart by referees after Schenn had taken down the Kings player. Watch the video here:

Shortly after the incident, Kings defenseman Kyle Burrough kneed Predators forward Gustav Nyquist. Nyquist’s teammate Ryan O’Reilly immediately took action by confronting Burrough in defense of his linemate.

O’Reilly landed several punches on Burroughs before both players tumbled to the ice.

The Kings would go on to win 3-0 against the Predators.

Kings comment on the fights – Luke Schenn vs Tanner Jeannot & Reilly vs Burroughs

Kings forward Trevor Moore praised the efforts of some of the new additions to the team, including Tanner Jeannot and defenseman Kyle Burroughs, saying they really stepped up and set the tone with their physicality.

“They got behind us a couple times, but it was a heavy game out there, and I thought some of our new guys, (Jeannot) and (Burroughs), really stepped up and set the tone for us,” Moore said.

Kings coach Jim Hiller also commented on the feisty nature of the game, saying:

“It was really good. I mean, we played hard. They’re physical too. We saw a couple fights, big hits. So it’s not an easy game to play; you’ve got to be into it. You’ve got to be sharp. And we were.”

Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala and Anze Kopitar scored for the Kings. Darcy Kuemper stopped all 16 shots while Jusse Saros made 24 stops in the loss. Next, the Kings face the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday at the Xcel Energy Center.
