- George Russell pledged to party after winning the Las Vegas Grand Prix last week
- The race also saw Max Verstappen secure his fourth consecutive world title
George Russell has opened up on his post-race celebrations in Las Vegas and revealed he spotted Max Verstappen still partying the next morning.
Russell secured a historic victory last week, winning his second Grand Prix of 2024 after starting in pole position.
Meanwhile, Verstappen only came fifth in the race in Sin City, but it was still enough for the Dutchman to seal a fourth consecutive world title.
After the race Russell pledged to change his travel plans to party in Vegas, with the Brit later seen enjoying his evening alongside several celebrities and his partner Carmen Montero Mundt.
The Formula One show moved onto Qatar this week and speaking on Thursday, Russell hilariously reflected on the celebrations and poked fun at Verstappen for his own partying.
When questioned on whether he had seen Verstappen on the night, Russell replied: ‘I don’t think he saw me, but I saw him in the bar at nine in the morning when l was leaving for the airport,’ with the Brit beaming as he recounted the tale.

The reporter then asked Verstappen – who was next to Russell – whether this was true, before the 26-year-old added: ‘He didn’t see me, he was, you know, nodding away so I think…’
Verstappen interrupted and joked: ‘I was very thirsty. It was 5pm somewhere so…’
Russell quipped: ‘Yeah so Max is a pro racing driver, pro FIFA player, paddle player, drinker.
‘He ticks all the boxes. A man of many, many talents,’ before Verstappen hilariously added: ‘Many talents.’
Meanwhile, speaking after Saturday’s victory, Russell had opened up on his plans to make the most of his trip to Vegas following his victory.
‘It’s going to be a good party,’ he beamed. ‘I was planning on flying in a couple of hours but I’m definitely not getting on that flight.
‘I’m going to enjoy this evening with all my team. It’s been a dream of a weekend I don’t know how we’ve been so quick but I’m just riding this wave right now.’
Mail Sport later reported how Russell was seen strolling into XS Nightclub, hand-in-hand with his glamorous girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt at 2am.

Inside, Swedish House Mafia DJ’d, and tables on the dance floor, it was reported earlier in the week, were going for $50,000 (£39,399) a pop for those who had a bit of spare cash and fancied the party.
Russell headed to the bar to get the drinks in for his mechanics, and then stepped into the DJ booth himself to work the crowd into a frenzy at the star-studded bash.
Russell currently sits sixth in the drivers’ standings, nine points clear of team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
The Brit will hope to end the season on a high in the final two races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi over the next nine days.
