Idris Elba leads star-studded guest list in Monaco as Christian Horner mingles with F1 stars amid return rumours

IDRIS ELBA led a star-studded guest list in Monaco as Formula E rolled into town.

The all-electric racing series visited Monte Carlo this weekend for a double-header event.

But in the paddock, Formula E bosses welcomed a catalogue of big names to watch race action around the narrow city streets.

Luther star Elba was among the celebs in attendance, as he wore a smart white shirt and black trousers combo while checking out Formula E’s new Gen4 car which will be used from next season.

Formula One stars, many of whom already live in Monaco, also paid a visit to the paddock ahead of their own visit to the circuit next month.

Ollie Bearman, Gabriel Bortoleto, Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz, the latter two who visited with their families, were all smiles too.

Former F1 chief Christian Horner was also a special guest in the paddock.

The ex-Red Bull boss, who is married to Spice Girl Geri Horner, was seen eyeing the new Gen4.

He was also reunited with old Red Bull star Mark Webber.

It comes after the 52-year-old claimed he had “unfinished business” in F1 following his sacking by Red Bull.

Likewise, F1 Academy boss Susie Wolff took a break from managing the all-female racing series to check out Formula E.

Other guests at the track included American influencer Olivia Ponton and Scottish model Rebecca Donaldson, the latter of whom was visiting alongside partner and F1 driver Sainz.

British sporting royalty made a suitable appearance too in the form of gold-medal Olympians Paula Radcliffe and Daley Thompson, as they were personally greeted by Formula E chief Jeff Dodds.

Divina and Shania Geiss were also seen taking in the sun on a beautiful weekend in front of the Monaco harbour.

Former British racing driver Billy Monger joined Elba, Horner and Sainz in getting a personal look at the Gen4 vehicle – which could spell the end of Formula E’s racing in London after the race in August.

Meanwhile, the likes of David Coulthard, Jamie Chadwick and Karun Chandhok were snapped while they worked during their broadcast duties for the series.
