PGA Tour star Ben Griffin has spoken out after learning that Scottie Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott has raked in more cash than most players on the tour in 2025.
It’s been a banner year for Scheffler, 29, with the New Jersey-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 star capturing the PGA Championship and The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush to bring his major championship count to four. The player-caddie partnership between Scheffler and Scott has been unstoppable since they teamed up in 2022.
Their financial arrangement remains mostly secret, though Scheffler has offered some brief insights into it. Caddies typically pocket 10 per cent of the winner’s purse, seven per cent for a top-10 showing, and five per cent for everything else – though they might also pull down a weekly wage.
Griffin captured the Charles Schwab Challenge, after detailing the hard work that went into winning the event, and the Zurich Classic with Andrew Novak this year, banking him around $8 million in 2025, marking one of his most profitable seasons. He’s accumulated just shy of $15M throughout his career to date.
Golf Digest posted on X that Scott’s earnings this year, $2M, surpass those of the typical PGA Tour player, which sit at $1.7M. Griffin cheekily responded: “He (Scott) got me the last two years. I knew I had to step my game up…”
Scott has collected just over $7.3M over just the past two years, with the 2025 season still ongoing. Griffin pulled in $3.3M in 2024 – a year when Scott impressively hauled in $5.3M.
A fan quizzed Griffin on why, despite bagging two wins on the tour this year, he hadn’t splurged on a ‘blue tick’ on X – a paid feature on the social platform. Griffin quipped in response: “Can’t risk buying a blue check and Ted jumping me.”

Scheffler has clinched four titles this year and notched 13 top-10 placements in 16 tournaments. His earnings for 2025 have hit a cool $18.8M to date.
Scott’s staggering sum this year would even see him surpass the earnings of two former Masters champions on the PGA money list, with Zach Johnson and Danny Willett having earned $880K and $534K respectively.
In 2024, Scheffler snagged a whopping $63M, while Scott’s take was about $5.3M, which would’ve placed him around 20th on the PGA Tour’s money list that year.
While Scott tops the charts as the richest caddie right now, he’s not alone in the high-roller club. Rory McIlroy’s go-to guy Harry Diamond and Xander Schauffele’s caddie Austin Kaiser have also pulled in serious cash recently.

Speaking on the Pardon My Take podcast last year, Scheffler opened up on how he leaves paying Scott to his staff, despite the astronomical sums heading his caddie’s way. “We have a girl that helps us pay bills basically because I’m a 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 and I can’t keep track of all that stuff,” Scheffler said.
“She quickly took over that job and texts me at the end of each week saying, ‘Hey, this is how much we’re paying Ted.’ I’m like, ‘That’s great.'”
Scott has nothing but praise for Scheffler and his seemingly unstoppable form. “Time and time again, when people get close, he seems to be able to step on the gas,” Scott said following Scheffler’s triumph at the PGA Championship in May. “He just has that ability to be like, ‘Oh, no, you’re not coming after me, bud.'”
