Bold & Beautiful Exclusive: Scott Clifton Shares the Soapy Twist That He Not Only Hates, It’s ‘Beginning to Be Unattractive’

Scott Clifton loves his job at The Bold and the Beautiful. But that doesn’t mean that he loves everything that Liam does. In fact, when it comes to the notorious waffler’s ping-ponging between women, “I hate that,” he admits in this week’s episode of Soapy.

Liam May Be Changing Along With the Times

Luckily, the Emmy winner believes that the time is coming up for Liam to simmer down. “I think that we’re on the precipice with soaps — it’s like adapt or die, right? — and culturally, 20, 30 years ago, it was 𝓈ℯ𝓍y and attractive for a man to be torn between two women who were fawning over him and him having to go back and forth. It was the Ridge, Brooke and Taylor thing.

“That was like soap bread and butter for a really long time,” he adds. “But I don’t think we live in that world anymore. We’re at a place now where that’s not only not attractive but beginning to be unattractive.”

Perspective Is Everything, Including in Playing Liam

What that means isn’t necessarily that Liam will never again feel a tug on his heart in both Steffy and Hope’s directions. “It just means when I’m playing Liam, I’m recognizing that I’m not playing the hero, I’m playing that [bleep] that we all know and tolerate, but we wish that he treated women better.”
