Liverpool will be hoping to bounce back from the disappointment of the 2022/23 season when returning to action next month
Fourteen members of Liverpool’s first team today reported for first-team training as Jurgen Klopp’s side begin to step-up preparations for the new season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Jordan Henderson, Diogo Jota, Caoimhin Kelleher, Ibrahima Konate, Alexis Mac Allister, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Kostas Tsimikas and Virgil van Dijk made up the individuals today making their way to the AXA Training Centre after enjoying time off during the summer.
Others such as Joel Matip and Joe Gomez were back in action on July 8 for the first day of training, meanwhile Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are yet to make their return after helping to glory in the European Under-21 Championship final on Saturday evening.
Footage captured by the club earlier today has shown how various players in the squad reacted to those around them arriving at the training base, beginning with a warm embrace between Salah and Andy Robertson.
A funny exchange then followed between Salah and Kostas Tsimikas, who are believed to be particularly close friends off the pitch, with the latter informing the Egyptian he appeared ‘skinny’. Responding to this remark, Salah told the Greek left-back ‘I lost weight’.
Following a similar pattern to the above conversation, Robertson and Salah were quick to poke fun at Jordan Henderson after spotting the skipper shirtless. ‘Wow, what a body! It’s all that boxing’, said Robertson in response to the physique of the England international.
Supporters were also given a glimpse of Mac Allister being welcomed by Klopp and his new set of team-mates, having joined the Reds last month as part of a £35million transfer from Brighton.
