Ronaldo’s club banned by FIFA for stealing money

Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr club has been banned from signing up for more new players because they did not pay enough transfer fees to Leicester when they signed Ahmed Musa five years ago.

According to the latest announcement from FIFA, Al-Nassr has been banned from registering more players this summer. The Saudi club failed to pay Leicester’s extra clause in the 2018 signing of Ahmed Musa.

Previously, Musa won the national championship with Al-Nassr but was sold in 2020. FIFA confirmed Al-Nassr did not pay Leicester 390,000 bonus clauses. This team is warned in 2021, that they will face a player registration ban if they do not handle things smoothly.

Now, Al-Nassr has been banned from adding players to the squad. FIFA regulations confirm that the penalty can be extended to three consecutive transfer windows. However, the Saudi Arbia Public Investment Fund (PIF) has confirmed that it will pay to remove the penalty.

Al-Nassr needs to pay Leicester to avoid receiving a transfer ban from FIFA. With the current spending momentum of Saudi clubs, just not adding new recruits in one transfer window is enough to make it difficult for Al-Nassr to compete for the championship next season.

The management team of Cristiano Ronaldo has recruited Marcelo Brozovic in this summer transfer window on a free transfer from Inter. Initially, Brozovic refused to represent Saudi Arabia due to waiting for Barca to send an official offer to Inter. However, after the Catalan giants withdrew, plus Al-Nassr’s salary increase, Brozovic accepted.

Specifically, Al-Nassr agreed to increase the salary for the 30-year-old midfielder, from 20 million euros/season to 25 million euros/season. In addition, Ronaldo’s team also invited Brozovic to sign a 3-year contract instead of 2 years as his previous wish.
