BREAKING: Stepfather of Missing Lily and Jack Sullivan Appears in Court — Then Leaves Without a Word

As the disappearance of Lily and Jack Sullivan continues to haunt Nova Scotia, their stepfather, Daniel Martell, has now appeared in court on serious charges involving an adult complainant.

Martell, 34, made a brief appearance at Pictou Provincial Court, where he faces charges of sexual assault, assault, and forcible confinement.Stepfather of N.S. missing kids has first court appearance - Acadia Broadcasting

The identity of the complainant is protected by a publication ban.

The charges are separate from the disappearance of Lily and Jack, and the court appearance did not establish any legal connection between the two matters.

Still, with the children missing since May, every development involving someone from their household is being watched closely.

During the hearing, Crown lawyer Bill Gorman indicated that Martell is expected to return to court to address legal representation through Nova Scotia Legal Aid, along with issues involving election and plea.

His next appearance was scheduled for March 30.

The hearing itself was brief.

But what happened afterward immediately drew attention.

Martell left the courthouse quickly and did not answer questions from reporters.

No public statement.

No comment about the charges.

And no new answers about Lily and Jack.

That silence does not imply guilt, and Martell is entitled to the presumption of innocence on the charges before the court.

But for a public still waiting to learn what happened to two missing children, the image of their stepfather walking away from the courthouse without speaking has only added to the tension surrounding the case.

Lily and Jack remain missing.

Martell now faces a separate legal battle.

And as investigators continue searching for answers, one question remains impossible to ignore:

What does Daniel Martell know about the final days before Lily and Jack disappeared — and when will the public finally hear more?
