We’re pretty sure we weren’t the only ones whose first thought when Holly started getting sick on Days of Our Lives was, “Oh no, not another accidental pregnancy story.” Thankfully, her symptoms kept getting worse (Sorry, Holly) and the pregnancy story seemed more and more unlikely.

We really didn’t need another “Oops, I’m accidentally going to be a dad again” story for Tate. And after all that had happened, we couldn’t imagine Holly letting her guard down for one second to even get pregnant in the first place.

We had our other suspicions of course, but it wasn’t until Wednesday’s episode that we feel like it’s pretty darn clear what’s happening — even if Holly and her loved ones are still in the dark. The long and the short of it? Holly’s taking tainted medication, courtesy of DiMera Pharmaceuticals.

There’s no way this happening just as she starts her antidepressants and Sarah and Brady figuring out the tainted drugs is a coincidence. And the symptoms Liam described Clea as having just before she died, match up with what’s going on with Holly.

So does this mean that Holly’s a goner? No, especially since we know Ashley Puzemis will be airing through most of the year yet as she was only let go in January. But she’s in a whole lot of trouble, and this just reframed Destiny’s death from a vague tragedy, into something that’s about to shake the whole town.

Think about it: If EJ really is behind these drugs and word gets out that they nearly killed Holly, much of Salem is going to turn on him. And that’s on top of the deaths he may have already caused. Plus, we know EJ still feels protective towards Holly after being her stepfather, and this is going to shake him. But we don’t know if that’s a good thing with how far he’s falling.

Instead of prompting EJ to change his ways, his own guilt, combined with what’s sure to be everyone in town turning on him, may end up hardening his heart.

On top of that, Xander just got into it with EJ over whose family Holly gets to be in. If he thinks his nemesis caused this, he’s going to flip. Their little tiff the other day (while petty) will be small potatoes compared to what’s coming. And we feel like the whole Kiriakis clan might be pulled into the fracas as well. Everyone loves Maggie, and if EJ hurts her granddaughter, intentional or not… It’s war.

Then there’s Sarah. Johnny’s already hit a dead-end, searching the records at DiMera, but Xander, we have a feeling, might have a bit more luck. He’s not relying on official channels to dig up the info. And if that ends up helping Sarah not just figure out what happened to Destiny, but what’s going on with Holly, she’s going to be incredibly grateful to her ex.

The draw back together that started with their bonding over the tragedy of Destiny’s death is bound to accelerate. And that’s going to leave Brady out in the cold. Plus, the hospital visit alone pulled Liam back to Salem and back into Ari’s orbit. Whatever his intentions, those two aren’t over, and Gabi’s about to flip her lid.

And Amy’s lawsuit? That’s one thing we aren’t sure of. There’s a chance she might start to feel bad for Holly — the teen could die from taking antidepressants needed to cope with all that’s happened with Sophia and Amy. Amy could relent. But right now, we won’t hold our breath. You can bet this won’t go unnoticed, though.

It would be nice if, on top of everything else, this brought Nicole and Eric back to town. But that, sadly, seems just about impossible at this point. Either way, Holly’s hospitalization might have just kicked off when heck of a hot summer!
