At Orphey Gene’s, Tomas meets Chelsea with one goal in mind.
He needs advice.
Instead of making small talk, Tomas pulls a ring box from his pocket and proudly reveals that he intends to ask Kat to marry him.
Chelsea is completely caught off guard.
Her stunned reaction immediately tells Tomas something is wrong. Mistaking her silence for jealousy, he jokes that she probably thinks his engagement will steal attention from her own happiness.
Chelsea quickly shuts that idea down.
Her concern has nothing to do with herself.
She believes Tomas is making an emotional decision while still reeling from nearly losing Kat during her dangerous liver transplant surgery.
According to Chelsea, surviving a tragedy doesn’t automatically mean it’s the right time to propose.
Tomas disagrees.
He insists the tornado simply reminded him how fragile life really is. Nearly losing Kat convinced him he doesn’t want to waste another day waiting to tell her how much he loves her.

Convinced she has to stop a disaster before it happens, Chelsea immediately reaches out for help.
Soon afterward, Madison joins her.
Chelsea explains that Tomas plans to propose, expecting Madison to share her concern.
Instead, Madison shrugs.
She reminds Chelsea that relationships don’t always follow perfect timing, pointing out that Chelsea herself once proposed under emotional circumstances after threatening to leave town.
Chelsea admits the situations aren’t comparable.
Kat has barely survived major surgery.
She was pressured into donating part of her liver to save Eva and is only beginning to recover physically and emotionally. The last thing she needs, Chelsea argues, is another enormous life decision placed in front of her.
She also reminds Madison that Tomas hasn’t exactly earned unlimited trust.
His past mistakes—including stepping out on Kat’s cousin—still cast a shadow over the relationship.
Before long, Naomi arrives.
Chelsea immediately asks whether she thinks Kat should accept a proposal right now.
Naomi doesn’t necessarily oppose marriage, but she doubts anyone will be able to stop Tomas once he’s already bought the ring.
As the three women imagine how Tomas might stage the proposal, Madison jokes about a romantic flamenco performance complete with music and dramatic flair.
Chelsea isn’t laughing.

She worries Kat, after everything she’s endured, will once again feel pressured into saying yes simply to avoid disappointing someone she loves.
After sacrificing her health to save Eva, Chelsea believes Kat deserves the freedom to make every future decision on her own terms.
