Fairmont Crest may be heading toward one of its darkest storylines yet, but viewers should separate what has actually been previewed from fan speculation. The latest spoilers strongly suggest Joey Armstrong is putting a new plan into motion involving Deanna McBride—and it could place Doug McBride’s daughter in more danger than ever.
The first clue comes from Joey’s meeting with Randy Parker at the casino. In the preview, Joey asks whether Deanna would recognize Randy, and after hearing “maybe,” he gives a chilling instruction: “She needs to be on the job.” Those few words have fueled intense speculation about what Joey is planning and why Deanna has suddenly become so important to him.
Whatever Joey’s objective may be, it appears to involve using Randy to get close to Deanna rather than confronting her directly. The preview later shows Randy embracing Deanna, suggesting he may be attempting to gain her trust. Whether that relationship becomes romantic, manipulative, or simply part of a larger scheme remains unknown, but Joey clearly intends for Randy to play a key role.
That timing couldn’t be worse for Deanna.

If Joey believes Deanna has lowered her guard, Randy may have an easier path into her life. Rather than seeing him as another threat connected to Joey, she could mistake his attention for genuine kindness during one of the most emotionally fragile periods of her life.
The situation becomes even more complicated because Vanessa remains unaware of Joey’s true intentions. She continues building a future with him while trying to repair her strained relationship with Deanna, believing her daughter has finally accepted the relationship. If Joey is secretly manipulating events behind the scenes, Vanessa could unknowingly help give him even greater access to her family.
Donnell McBride may ultimately become Deanna’s strongest ally.
Unlike Deanna, who is trying to play a long game, Donnell has never been comfortable with Joey attempting to fill Doug’s place in the family. Should he discover that Joey is deliberately using Randy to manipulate his sister, the fragile peace inside the McBride family could collapse almost instantly.
