Genoa City Athletic Club – Cane Offers Holden a Job at Chancellor, and Lily Admits She’s Confused by Cane’s New Personality
Cane is discussing some land development plans with Lily.
He wants to call the development Chancellor Way. Lily likes the idea and has been working on a similar plan. She shows him her work on her computer, and he’s shocked to see how similar their plans are.
Holden stops by to say hello, and Cane invites him to join them at the table. Lily thinks he should too, so he agrees.
Holden says he’s spent the day helping Stephanie with house-hunting. He asks them to let him know if they hear of a good place opening up.
Holden admits that he’s not entirely comfortable with Stephanie living in the same city as him, particularly with both of them staying at the Athletic Club.
Holden lets slip that he’s been frustrated on the employment front, but then realizes that he’s embarrassing himself a little, considering that Cane was responsible for the disruption that cost him his last job, and says he’s going to stop talking.
Lily asks Holden about his future plans, and he admits he has none. Cane suggests they might be able to offer him some work.
Cane explains that Lily is currently the sole owner of Chancellor Industries, and that he is CEO. He says if Lily approves, he’d like to offer Holden a job, something that would allow him to buy his own home.
Holden is caught off guard and can tell Lily wasn’t expecting the offer either. She says it’s a great idea, and she’s just mad Cane thought to make the offer before she did. But Holden doesn’t hate the idea.
Holden mentions that he’s been considering a return to LA but wants to know what kind of work Cane is offering so he can properly consider it. Lily is dismayed to hear Holden might leave town, as that would prevent her from getting to know her new brother better.
Cane says he’s familiar with Holden’s work, and respects and trusts him. Cane wants an answer, even though he hasn’t explained the job.
Holden wants to make sure they don’t think he was angling for favor by mentioning his employment troubles. He suspects Lily wouldn’t agree to hiring him if he weren’t her brother. Lily says even if he weren’t her brother, she trusts Cane’s business sense. She asks Holden to take the job, adding that Malcolm would be happy about it, too.
Holden accepts.
Holden offers to let them get back to their breakfast, explaining that he’s too excited to eat after their conversation. He leaves.
Lily says Cane has surprised her again.
Cane begins to explain to Lily his plans for Holden, and she asks how long he’s been thinking of hiring him. Cane admits he didn’t think of it until he saw Lily’s reaction to Holden’s complaints of joblessness.
Lily admits that she’s actually unsettled that Cane seems to know just what to do to make her happy at every turn.
Cane doesn’t understand why that would upset Lily, and Lily says she isn’t mad; it’s just messing with her head. She says she feels like he’s been five different people in the time she’s known him. She feels he’s very different from the original Cane she knew.
Cane is afraid to say anything, worrying he’ll spoil Lily’s improving opinion of him.
Cane asks if Lily would prefer Holden at Winters, and Lily says she likes him at Chancellor.
Genoa City Memorial Hospital – Patty Flees Without Injecting Jack, Is Spotted by Diane and Kyle, and the Chase Is On
Patty is standing over Jack, still ready to inject him with her poison. She gives him a short speech about how his foolish choice to reject her for Diane is going to cost him his life.
Patty goes on and is just beginning to place the needle into Jack’s IV line when the guard she snuck past enters and asks how Mr. Abbott is doing.
Patty says he’s holding steady and slips the cap back onto her needle. She says it seems their patient has cheated death, “for now.” The guard asks who would do something so brutal, and Patty excuses herself and leaves the room.
Outside she vents her frustration into the open air. Kyle and Diane round a corner and spot Patty, so she makes a run for it. Diane recognizes her immediately and realizes she’s just come from Jack’s room.
Kyle goes to check on Jack while Diane chases after Patty. Kyle sends the guard to help Diane pursue Patty, explaining quickly that the woman who just ran out was Jack’s attacker.
Kyle takes a brief look over Jack and realizes Patty didn’t get to him, so he steps outside the room to make a phone call. He asks Detective Burrow to come to the hospital as quickly as he can.
Patty is running through the hospital, and Diane has lost sight of her, but is still searching.
Kyle is now running through the halls as well, searching for Patty. Patty enters a stairwell, and Diane finds the same one, calling after her. Kyle isn’t far behind, but Patty still has a lead on them both.
Billy and Sally’s Apartment – Jill Invites Billy to London, Hoping They Can Fix Their Relationship Without the Distractions of Genoa City
Jill enters first, with Billy close behind. She’s taking in her surroundings, and Billy says she could have just asked to visit. Jill suspects he wouldn’t have allowed it.
Jill says the decor is perfect and guesses that it’s Sally’s doing. Billy wants to know why she’s come by, and she says she wants to work through their problems. She says that she loves him too much to leave their relationship unrepaired.
Billy offers Jill a glass of tea, and she spends some time admiring his family photos. She’d like to meet with her grandchildren, Johnny and Katie, but Billy is noncommittal about the suggestion. He’s trying to get her out quickly, and she says it breaks her heart. Billy thinks they’ve talked enough, but Jill is frustrated they haven’t found a way forward.
Billy says their issues are unfixable, but Jill refuses to believe that. Jill points out that he’s changed and suggests their relationship could change too. Billy manages to take this as an insult. He says all she’s ever done is judge him and behave passive-aggressively.
Jill is beginning to lose patience and brings up his addiction. Unsurprisingly, that doesn’t calm Billy down, and he says this is just her behaving the way she always does, blaming him for her behavior.
Jill argues that her criticism is constructive. She says Billy has proven on more than one occasion that he can’t be trusted. She brings up his history of gambling and embezzlement.
Jill admits she’s been hard on him but complains that he refuses to hear anything but what he’s already decided is the truth. She feels like she can’t win with him.
Billy says she thinks she’s a model mother, and she admits she isn’t. Jill asks if they can just wipe the slate clean and stop throwing the past in each other’s faces. She adds that she doesn’t know how much time she has left.
Billy resists discussing Jill’s mortality, but she insists. She says she’s terrified by her recent illness and doesn’t want to leave this world without healing their relationship.
Billy agrees; he wants to mend their relationship before it’s too late. Jill invites him to London. She hopes they can work things out without the troubles of Genoa City all around them.
Crimson Lights – Claire and Holden Arrange to Meet
Claire is at a counter with a cup of tea when her phone rings. It’s Holden, and she says she was just about to call him.
Claire mentions that she’s ready to start work rebuilding a news division. Holden says he has some news, too, and would like to meet with her.
Genoa City Memorial Hospital – Jack Wakes Up While Patty Injects Jill With Poison
Traci enters Jack’s room, and she’s confused that the guard is absent from his post.
Traci begs Jack to wake up. She says he’s the rock of the family and that Diane still loves him. Things are messed up, she admits, and he’s the only one who can fix it. She wants him to wake up and testify against Patty.
Traci gives up on talking to him and turns away but soon hears Jack speaking her name from behind. She turns back toward him and expresses her excitement that he’s awake.
Meanwhile, Patty runs into a locked door on the ground floor of the stairwell and has to continue fleeing into the basement level. Diane is hot on her heels.
Back in Jack’s room, he’s trying to move around and Traci begs him not to stress himself. Jack begins to panic because Dr. Markham has Diane, and Traci tells him that Diane is safe.
Jack turns his thoughts to Patty and says that she’s angry he doesn’t want her. Traci tells him he’s been unconscious for a while and asks him to remain still while she fetches a nurse. She runs out of the room.
Left alone, Jack remembers the moment when Patty stabbed him.
Diane is gaining fast on Patty and finally manages to shove her against a wall. Patty demands that Diane let go of her and screams for help.
Kyle and the guard follow the sound of Patty’s screams while Diane warns Patty that no one would blame her if she strangled her right then and there.
Upstairs, Traci is standing by as the nurse checks over Jack. The nurse reports his vitals are good and leaves.
Traci can’t wait to tell everyone he’s awake. Jack wonders where everyone is, and she says they’ve just stepped out.
Jack says he remembers that Patty put him in this state, and asks where she is.
Downstairs in the basement, Kyle and the guard round the corner just in time to see Patty jab her needle full of poison into Diane’s neck. Diane begins to panic, asking Patty what she just did.
Upstairs, Traci is begging Jack not to upset himself, promising she’ll tell him everything. She says Patty has framed Diane for his stabbing. Jack can’t believe it. Traci assures him Michael is working to prove Diane’s innocence, and adds that now that he’s awake, he can set the record straight.
Down in the basement, Patty breaks away from Diane and flees. Kyle sends the guard after Patty and goes to tend to Diane.
The guard catches up with Patty and drags her back just as Detective Burrow arrives on the scene.
Kyle picks Diane up to carry her somewhere she can be treated, begging her to stay with him.
Society – Claire and Holden Agree They Won’t Let Their Professional Lives Interfere With Their Personal Relationship
Holden meets Claire and thanks her for meeting with him.
Claire is excited about her new division at Newman. Holden wants to know about Nikki and Claire says she’s well but there’s still no guarantee she’ll regain her sight. She mentions that Victor has allowed her to move back to the ranch.
Claire wants to hear Holden’s news, and he says that Lily has hired Cane to run Chancellor, and Cane offered him a full-time job.
Claire wishes she could be happy for him, but she thinks taking this job would be a mistake.
Holden wants to know why Claire thinks that and reminds her he’s been struggling looking for work. Claire explains that she doesn’t trust Cane and blames him for stealing Victor’s business. Holden says that Victor’s not blameless, adding that he destroyed Cane’s business just because he could.
Claire objects to that, and Holden goes on to insist that Cane has good reasons to be upset with Victor.
Holden says he doesn’t want to fight with Claire, and Claire agrees; she hopes they can keep their professional conflicts and personal relationship separate. She wants to support him in his new job.
Claire is glad he’ll be working with Lily and asks what Holden will be doing at his new job. He admits that’s still up in the air.
