Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes revealed that new signing Rasmus Højlund is “trying to speak to everyone” to build a relationship with the team.
Rasmus Hojlund is already making an impression at Man Utd
United signed Højlund on 29th July 2023 from Serie A side Atalanta for a deal worth £72m.
The 20-year-old striker made 34 appearances for Atalanta, scoring 10 goals and producing 4 assists for his former team.

Speaking to club media (h/t Manchester Evening News), Fernandes said:
“He [Højlund] is someone who is always trying to speak to everyone, he is really open. He’s a kid that, from what I’ve seen, wants to work and get in the team because he wants to be fit as soon as possible. I think he has a lot of energy, a lot of strength and hopefully a lot of goals too.
“Of course, I want to build that connection with him that I have with the other strikers and wingers because I’m here to serve them so I want them to feel happy that they will get their chances, and after that it’s about them getting the goals. I want my strikers and wingers to score goals and I want to see their happy faces celebrating in front of the Stretford End.”
Højlund missed the opening 3 games of the season due to injury. He made his debut as a substitute in United’s 3-1 away defeat at Arsenal. The Denmark striker is currently with his national team to participate in EURO 2024 qualification.
Højlund is currently a joint-top scorer with Scotland and his new United team-mate Scott McTominay with 6 goals each in EURO 2024 qualifiers.
Højlund has showcased good dribbling s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s, ball control, and off-the-ball movement at his former club, Atalanta, and for his Denmark national team. The 20-year-old has a dominant left foot but he is equally comfortable playing and scoring with his right.

The Danish striker is still just 20-year-old and he is far from being a finished article to be considered among the top strikers in Europe. However, he has all the s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s and characteristics.
Fernandes said Højlund’s open, energetic character and the efforts from the youngster to know his new teammates. It is a fantastic mentality from Højlund that will only help him adapt faster here at United.
The Portugal international is also our chief creator in midfield and for Hojlund to succeed here, it is important he forms a connection here. Just look at how Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland have fared at Manchester City…
