Aussie Mum Fights Back Against Online Harassment Over Baby’s Birthmark

A horrified mother has responded to cruel bullies who asked if her daughter’s visage had been “pressed onto a s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁et” and said her “horrible” 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 would never find a partner.

Marianna Bowering, the elated mother, stated that she has always viewed her daughter’s dark facial 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡mark as a distinctive feature that should be celebrated.

The 27-year-old woman from Adelaide, South Australia, explained that her endearing one-year-old daughter Angelica was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 with a port-wine 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡mark across her face, which she refers to as a ‘angel kiss’ due to its heart-shaped appearance.

Thankfully, Angelica is completely healthy and will undergo regular checkups to ensure that her port-wine discoloration does not pose any health risks.

Although most of the people in Marianna’s life are loving and tolerant of Angelica’s 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡mark, she frequently receives hateful comments in person and online.

“People have advised me not to highlight her face,” Marianna said.

Why can’t she have an Instagram account without adults bullying her online? It is ludicrous.

“They are literally bullying a 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. It is repulsive behavior for a toddler who has not even reached her second 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day.

“I care not what anyone says, however. I would never conceal my daughter because of it, as I believe she is incredibly beautiful.”

While Marianna and her husband, Corey, 27, did not care about the physical appearance of the skin condition, they were unaware that port wine stains could indicate other health issues, such as developmental delays, seizures, and glaucoma because the stain covered her eyes.

“Thank goodness, testing have shown that Angelica is completely healthy. As glaucoma can be a concern, it is sufficient to conduct routine examinations, notably of her eyes.

“It was quite overwhelming to learn of all the additional things that could accompany a port-wine discoloration.

However, she is doing so well, and we couldn’t be more pleased.

Marianna explained that while some insults were evident, sometimes strangers in public would say things that were ignorant, insensitive, or essentially ‘backhanded’ compliments.

Now, the courageous mother is raising awareness of the condition and calling out the bullies who have said hurtful things about her daughter, such as inquiring if Angelica’s visage had been placed on a frying pan.

She continued, “It breaks my heart to consider anyone being cruel to her. However, I now see her, and she is such a courageous little girl who is not afraid of anything.

“I am confident that she will endure whatever life tosses at her.

“She transcends her 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡mark. She is her own individual, and she is not unlike anyone else.

It is her superhero costume. She displays her emotions on her visage.”
