Jordan Poole of the Washington Wizards will get the chance to show off his talent without having to play second fiddle this 2023-24 NBA season. Expectations are high, and among the people setting the bar high is retired NBA great Kevin Garnett.
The “Big Ticket” feels that the 24-year-old Poole will be the next James Harden when he spoke on his “KG Certified” podcast.
“Jordan Poole is the new James Harden. Y’all remember when James Harden left OKC and got to God damn Houston and got right at it? Man, this the Jordan Poole show,” the 2004 NBA Most Valuable Player stated.
Additionally, Garnett forecasts Poole to finish in the top five in scoring this NBA season, per SI.com.
Poole’s time to shine is now
After playing behind Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors, it is a chance for the 28th overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft to shine. He showed glimpses of that with the Dubs during his stint from 2019 to 2023.
Also, Poole will have something to prove. He was criticized by former Warriors teammates who had grievances against him, highlighted by Logan Murdock of The Ringer when he appeared on “The Bill Simmons” podcast in June.
“All the established guys had some version of a problem with Jordan Poole, whether it was Klay ironically saying that Jordan doesn’t pass the ball enough and shoots too much,” Murdock stated.
Poole will have a chance when the Wizards and the Warriors collide on December 22 at the Chase Center.
