THE EGYPTIAN KING: Mo Salah again makes the difference for Liverpool in the derby by scoring a double 2-0 against Everton

At Anfield on Saturday, Liverpool defeated 10-man Everton 2-0 due to two goals from Mo Salah in the second half.

After Michael Keane was given a handball penalty in the 75th minute, the Egyptian attacker crashed home.

Deep into additional time, Salah completed a quick counterattack to double his total.

Ashley Young was sent off before either of the goals were scored.

Craig Pawson, the on-field referee, did not initially give the spot kick that led to Liverpool’s first goal.

However, after seeing a replay of Luis Diaz crossing the ball onto Michael Keane’s outstretched right arm, Pawson changed his verdict, according to a VAR review.

With his decisive penalty, Salah had now scored or assisted in 13 straight Premier League games at Anfield.

Ashley Young was sent off in the 35th minute after receiving two yellow cards, both for fouls on Diaz, leaving Everton with just 10 men.

When Ibrahima Konate, who had already received a booking, fouled Beto in the 64th minute, Liverpool were fortunate to escape receiving a red card of their own.

Moments thereafter, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp replaced Konate.

Even with a numerical deficit, Everton was still in the game and making a lot of effort to pull even when Liverpool ended the match in the 97th minute.

Darwin Nunez, the substitute, provided assistance with pace and vision for Salah’s second goal of the match.

With the win, Liverpool moved up to the top of the Premier League table for a brief period of time, while Everton dropped to 16th place.
