Cristiano Ronaldo is an icon, and anything he does becomes a trend. His celebrations catch on quicker than fire, whether it was the Siuuu or relief celebration that he started doing during his stay at Manchester United. But one celebration fans are yet to forget about is the squeezing celebration.
The squeeze celebration came during his early days at Real Madrid. In this celebration, he would put his arms up, squeezing his hands together in a grabbing motion. However, some fans and pundits thought it to be an inappropriate celebration, indicating something vulgar.
It was reported that Cristiano used to do the celebration back during the day because his son Cristiano Junior was just 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, and the gesture of ‘Claw’ is related to his son’s early years habit.

It’s fair to say Ronaldo’s squeeze celebration made quite some headlines back in the day, but slowly it got replaced by the ‘Calma’ celebration and the now iconic ‘Siuuu celebration’. Cristiano has stopped pulling off the celebration since the 2015/16 season, as by that time his son had gotten a little older.
Why was Ronaldo called ‘El Bicho’?
Cristiano Ronaldo has several nicknames, like CR7, Cristiano, G.O.A.T., Mr.Champions League, etc., but the Portuguese superstar is not an exception to unique nicknames, and during his playing days in Spain, the soccer player was given the nickname ‘El Bicho’.
The name was given to him by Spanish sports broadcaster Manolo Lama. ‘El Bicho’ in Spanish means ‘The Bug’, which refers to the fact that Cristiano can devour and frighten the opposition defenders. Ronaldo’s incredible dribbling s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s and ability to shoot from anywhere around the box made him one of the most feared strikers in Europe.
It’s fair to say the name ‘El Bicho’ has stayed relevant since last season while he was playing for Manchester United. Lisandro Martinez commented on a photo of Ronaldo ‘El Bicho’ from which it can be easily speculated that this nickname stuck for Cristiano during his second stint at Manchester United.
The nickname was fairly popular with Real Madrid fans, and fans used to cheer this to motivate Ronaldo to score more goals. It is fair to say it worked, as during this time at Real Madrid, Cristiano was averaging 40 goals per season and was at the prime of his career.
The name is not restricted to Ronaldo, as previously, Javier Fernandez of Deportivo La Coruna was also given this nickname. Ronaldo has fond memories associated with the nickname, even though its use has drastically decreased since the player left Spain.
