The president of Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red brand says the golfer could one day bring back the iconic TW logo made famous during his time with Nike.
Woods parted ways with sporting giant after 27 years at the end of 2023 and the most immediate question appeared to be what was to come next for the hall of famer.
The 15-time major champion wasted little time in announcing his next venture with his equipment manufacturer TaylorMade.
Woods debuted his Sun Day Red gear at the Genesis Invitational and the merch officially hit the shelves a few weeks ago at astronomical prices.
It’s a premium brand, after all.
Elsewhere, another question was what fate would the TW logo have.
The logo debuted in 2000, just in time for the Tiger Slam, which he completed the next year.
And it stayed with him until he left Nike.
When he launched Sun Day Red, Woods did not seem bothered about wanting to keep it.
“I don’t want it back,” he said. “I’ve moved on. This is a transition in my life.
“I’ve moved on to Sun Day Red, and we’re looking forward to building a brand that elicits excitement and is transformative.”
But Sun Day Red president Brad Blinkinship has cast doubt on that assertion.
He told Front Office Sports when asked if the TW logo could make a return: “That will be his decision.
“For now, he’s put out there that that’s in his past and he’s ready to move forward.
“So, I would say time will tell and it will be Tiger’s decision.”
The news has already gone down well with his legion of fans.
On X, one user wrote: “This means that Tiger is open-minded with this brand and that it can evolve and really release somewhat retro collections.”
Blinkinship also confirmed that Sun Day Red shoes will be released next year.
Woods wore FootJoy golf shoes when he made his comeback to the game after his 2021 car crash as they provided his gammy right ankle much more stability than his Nike shoes.
But he is already wearing Sun Day Red footwear.
Woods is in the field for this week’s PGA Championship and is rocking a look we haven’t seen for years.
