Unbeknownst to many, three of DC’s most notorious villains, who occasionally toe the line between heroism and villainy, form an unlikely super-team. Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy, known collectively as the Gotham City Sirens, have reunited for a thrilling new month-long event series.
Crafted by the creative talents of Leah Williams, Matteo Lolli, Daniel Hillyard, and Brandt & Stein, the four-issue weekly series, aptly titled Gotham City Sirens, promises to shake up the streets of Gotham. Set to replace the regular Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy titles in August, the trio must join forces to combat a menacing threat โ a “violent and highly illegal energy drink-sponsored hunting operation” endangering both the city’s wildlife and its citizens. This marks the first new Gotham City Sirens comic in over a decade, igniting excitement among fans.
As the narrative unfolds, readers can anticipate a plethora of familiar faces gracing the pages alongside Ivy, Harley, and Selina. White Rabbit and Punchline are set to make guest appearances, while the introduction of the enigmatic Nasty Boys, ominously described as “the cowboy-henchmen sensation soon to be sweeping the nation,” adds an intriguing layer of intrigue. In an interview with Polygon, Williams offers a succinct yet vivid description of these new characters as “ominously horny half-nษฦeษ cowboys with automatic assault weapons.”
Artistically, the series boasts a dynamic lineup, with Matteo Lolli tackling the art for the first and third issues, while Daniel Hillyard takes on duties for the second. The final issue will see Hillyard collaborating with Brandt & Stein, with Triona Farrell providing vibrant colors throughout and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou expertly handling the lettering.
Mark your calendars for the debut of Gotham City Sirens #1, hitting shelves on August 7, followed by the subsequent weekly releases on August 14, 21, and 28. Prepare to be immersed in a thrilling saga as Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy take center stage once again, navigating treacherous waters in the heart of Gotham City.
