Legendary American golfer Tiger Woods has begun preparations for the prestigious US Open golf tournament.
He has arrived at Pinehurst and is gearing up for his first US Open since 2020. The tournament will commence on Thursday, June 13, and continue until Sunday, June 16.
The US Open, widely known as the U.S. Open, is the annual open national golf championship of the United States. It is the third of the four major men’s golf championships and is part of the official schedule for both the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
Since 1898, the competition has been played over 72 holes (four rounds on an 18-hole course), with the winner being the player with the lowest total number of strokes. As of 2023, the US Open boasts a prize fund of $20 million, the largest among all four major championships.
Tiger Woods last celebrated a victory at the US Open in 2008. In total, he has three US Open titlesâ2000, 2002, and 2008. Notably, Tiger Woods has 15 major titles to his name.
