Lethal Weapon 5 (2025) – The Buddy Cop Duo is Back for One Last Ride
After a nearly 30-year hiatus, the iconic buddy cop duo of Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh are reuniting for one final mission in Lethal Weapon 5. Fans have been clamoring for the return of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover’s legendary onscreen partnership, and in 2025 their wish will be granted.

But beneath the pyrotechnics and testosterone-fueled antics, the film will also explore the enduring friendship between Riggs and Murtaugh. As they confront their own mortality, the two must decide whether to finally hang up their badges for good or have one last hurrah for old time’s sake.
Directed by Richard Donner’s protégé, the 25-year-old wunderkind filmmaker Zach Snyder, Lethal Weapon 5 looks to both honor the legacy of the series while also updating it for a new generation. About: Lethal Weapon is an American buddy cop action-comedy media franchise created by Shane Black. It focuses on two Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives, Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh. The franchise consists of a series of four films released between 1987 and 1998 and a television series which aired from 2016 to 2019. The four films were directed by Richard Donner and also share many of the same core cast members, while the television series is a reboot with different actors. Although the first film was not explicitly a comedy, the later films and the television series gradually became comedic in nature.
