Tiger Woods ex golf coach drops LIV Golf / PGA Tour bombshell after latest Jon Rahm rumour

Tiger Woods’ former long-time coach Hank Haney has dropped an Uno reverse card on the latest LIV Golf rumour about Jon Rahm

Haney considers a number of the best PGA Tour players – and not Rahm – have a lot of ‘regret’ over not having accepted big-money moves to join the LIV Golf League.

Woods’ ex coach made his feelings be known after hearing LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman rubbish a Golf Digest report that claimed superstar signing Rahm was unhappy and wanting a move back to the PGA Tour.

Rahm, 29, reportedly accepted a five-year deal in the region of $600m to join LIV Golf at the end of 2023.

According to Golf Digest’s latest article on Rahm, the former World No.1 is desperate to get back on the PGA Tour and even prepared to hand back millions to LIV Golf in the process.

Rahm has only won once in 12 LIV Golf tournaments so far this season and he was beaten by Brooks Koepka in a playoff at Greenbrier on Sunday.

Koepka has now won a record five times on LIV Golf.

Rahm does, however, hold a narrow lead in the season-long race to be crowned individual LIV Golf champion heading into the final regular event in Chicago from 13-15 September.

But it was shock claims about Rahm’s general unhappiness on LIV Golf that drew the biggest headlines last week.

Norman hit out at the speculation.

He admitted it was complete nonsense, especially having spoken to Rahm’s manager on Friday.

Greg Norman

Norman said during the second round broadcast at LIV Golf Greenbrier:

“I read an article that came out yesterday about how Jon is so unhappy here and wants to give back his money. It’s just so asinine when these people say this stuff because it’s so not true. When you speak to Jon’s general manager like I did last night, it’s laughable! I just truly don’t get it. I truly don’t get the divide. The division is still there when we are actually showing how we do work within the ecosystem and how the ecosystem is accepting us and how the people are speaking out there. I just don’t understand why it is this way. It really tells you how there is a lot of deep seeded something there, but we are going to keep plowing thru it. Yes, stay true to ourselves, exactly right.”

Even Rahm himself laughed off any suggestion he was unhappy on LIV Golf.

‘They just make sh*t up,’ Rahm said of the Golf Digest article.

In the eyes of Tiger Woods’ former golf coach Haney, the Golf Digest article could not be further from the truth.

In fact Haney has played an Uno reverse card on the speculation.

Haney considers it is actually the PGA Tour players who are most regretting their decision to remain faithful and not accept big-money moves to LIV Golf.

Haney tweeted:

‘Pro golf is in such a state of flux that the only regret some players have is not having taken the offers from LIV when they had the chance. Classic case of you snooze you lose.’

Haney was Woods’ coach from 2004 to 2010, a stretch that saw him win six major titles.

The duo split a few months after revelations about Woods’ private life broke in 2009.

In 2012, Haney told of how he regretted how his relationship with Woods soured.

Haney’s latest tweet comes just days after PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan appeared to confirm there was no imminent deal with the financiers of LIV Golf.

Monahan met with a small group of reporters last Wednesday ahead of the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Towards the end of the major season there were reports lightning had struck between the parties.

But there have been no notable updates for months despite several meetings.
