The Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the star of the Saudi Al-Nasr club, sparked controversy with his hints about the Brazilian legend Pele.
Ronaldo needs to score one goal to reach the 900th goal in his football career with the Portuguese national team and the clubs he represented.
Ronaldo has 899 goals, which he scored with Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al-Nasr Saudi Arabia, in addition to the national team.
Ronaldo said in his interview on his official YouTube channel, with retired English legend Rio Ferdinand, that he is confident of reaching the 1,000th goal in his career.
He indicated that he would not retire from football until after reaching this goalscoring figure, stressing: “The difference between me and the old players is that all my goals are documented.”
Ronaldo continued, mocking the legends of the game, saying that he could exceed 1,000 goals if he documented the goals he scores in training.
Ferdinand responded, laughing at what Ronaldo said, saying: “What do you mean by Pele?” You are an idiot.”
