Lionel Messi ha sido acusado de insultar explícitamente al árbitro de la MLS durante un tenso enfrentamiento en el empate 1-1 entre Inter Miami y Charlotte FC. A pesar de la gravedad de la acusación, Messi evitó una tarjeta roja, aunque fue amonestado con una tarjeta amarilla por sus airadas protestas al final del partido.
Según informó el periódico argentino Olé, Messi, frustrado por la decisión del árbitro de no otorgar dos penaltis a su equipo en los últimos momentos del partido, supuestamente llamó al árbitro “hijo de p**** malintencionado”. A pesar de sus palabras, el astro argentino solo recibió una advertencia.

El punto obtenido en este encuentro mantiene viva la posibilidad de que Inter Miami gane el Supporters’ Shield, un trofeo que se otorga al mejor equipo de la temporada regular de la MLS. Además, una victoria en su próximo partido contra Columbus Crew aseguraría a Inter Miami el primer lugar en la Conferencia Este para la MLS Cup.
Tras el incidente, la MLS emitió un comunicado oficial sobre la sanción a Messi, en el que se menciona: “La liga no tolera ningún tipo de lenguaje abusivo o inapropiado hacia los árbitros, y hemos tomado las medidas disciplinarias correspondientes para asegurar que este comportamiento no se repita”.
Por su parte, el entrenador del Inter Miami, Tata Martino, también se pronunció tras el partido: “Entendemos la frustración de Leo, pero necesitamos mantener la compostura en estos momentos cruciales. Creemos que llegará en óptimas condiciones a los playoffs, donde será clave para nuestras aspiraciones”.
Messi, quien marcó su gol número 15 en 16 partidos de liga, sigue trabajando en su regreso a la plena forma física tras las lesiones que lo han mantenido fuera de varios encuentros importantes de la temporada regular. Ahora, con los playoffs a la vista, el equipo confía en que su estrella argentina esté listo para llevarlos a la gloria.
