The 2024 Presidents Cup has been one dramatic affair so far. The two sides seem to be at war. Even brother-like friends like Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim have been at each other’s throats on the course during their matches. Kim even started a controversy when he and Sungjae Im walked off the 8th hole and headed to the ninth when Scheffler still had a birdie putt left. The move was seen as a blatantly ‘disrespectful’ one! Amid these tense moments, though, it’s easy to miss some big ones. But not Adam Scott’s!

Scott, the oldest player in the Presidents Cup, 44, broke another record this week. He won his 22 point in the competition on Friday. He overtook Ernie Els (who had earned 21 points) as the player with the most points earned for the International Side at the Presidents Cup. On Saturday, he further extended his lead when he paired up with Taylor Pendrith and beat Max Homa and Brian Harmon. But that wasn’t all.

That Saturday foursome appearance is another record in Scott’s bag. He has now equaled Phil Mickelson’s record for most appearances in a foursome in the Presidents Cup. Lefty, in his 12 Presidents, played in 22 foursomes. Adam Scott has done it in 10. He now has 10 wins, 10 losses, and 2 halves in foursomes at the Presidents Cup. Notably, he has a pretty good singles record too with 5 wins, 4 losses, and no halves!

Even though his records are impressive, however, Scott has a long way to go if he wants to catch up to arguably the most craved-after metric—total points.p

Who has the most Presidents Cup points?The Presidents Cup has long been the domain of the Americans. All who enter it and defeated and sent back whence they came from, which is all over the world except Europe. Team USA has a record of 12-1-1. And the player with the most points won with a whopping 32.5 is none other than that whose record Scott just rivaled. Phil Mickelson.

Lefty has played 55 matches in the tournament and has a record of 26-13-16. That adds up to a whopping 32.5 points in the 12 editions he’s played. Notably, it’s one of the places where he beat even his own biggest rival Woods.

Tiger Woods is second in the total points amassed at the event with 27.5. His most memorable Presidents Cup is undoubtedly the 2019 edition, where he was a majestic player-captain and contributed with crucial points in a dramatic comeback victory. This was also the tournament where he passed Phil Mickelson’s record for most wins at the international event edging out with 27 for Mickelson’s 26. And hence even though he lags in the total he still managed to one-up Lefty.

Adam Scott is now third in the list of most points won. But as you can see, he still has a way to go. He has also, in his 10 Presidents Cups, not won a single one. Maybe this could be the year! Tune in to find out.
