Tiger Woods’ ex-coach Hank Haney took a jibe at the commentators regarding Joseph Bramlett’s brutal shot at the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open. Bramlett struggled with his game during the second round of the PGA Tour event on Friday, October 18.
After having a good start on the front nine, he struggled on the first hole, which was his tenth for the day. He was very close to making a birdie on the par-4 hole but unfortunately ended up with a triple bogey.
While Joseph Bramlett was taking his shot, a commentator spoke about his performance from the first day, where he missed some close putts. Tiger Woods ex-coach Hank Haney took a jibe at the commentator’s comment, calling it “brilliant commentary.” He wrote on X (formerly Twitter) account:
“Some brilliant commentary, “we saw him miss some putts yesterday that were very shaky”
Notably, during the first round of the Shriners Children’s Open, Joseph Bramlett had some tough moments. On the first hole, after two shots, his ball was just 13 feet 9 inches from the hole.
He could have made a birdie in the first round as well on the hole, but it took him two more shots to get the ball into the hole from a distance of 13 feet, resulting in a par. Likewise, on the par-4 15th hole, after two shots, the ball was just 2 feet 8 inches from the hole, but again it took him two shots to get it in the hole, and he settled for a par.
In the second round, Joseph Bramlett struggled again and shot a round of 4-over, bringing his total to 3-under, settling in a tie for 49th place.
“Very happy with the way the day went” – Joseph Bramlett on his first-day performance at the Shriners Children’s OpenDespite some bad shots in the first round of the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open, Joseph Bramlett delivered an overall strong performance. He shot a bogey-free opening round with seven birdies.
Following the round, in a press conference, Bramlett opened up about his game and said (via ASAP Sports):
“I struck the ball really nicely. I hit a lot of really good iron shots. Putted really nicely. Yeah, mentally I was in a great place. Very happy with the way the day went.”He further discussed how the wind affected the game on Thursday, adding:
“As we made the turn the wind got sideways on 9, which then made 10 downwind, and 10 almost felt drivable. I play here all the time, and when that’s the case you know as you turn back in it’s going to get really windy coming back. Yeah, right around the turn it picked up and just kept getting stronger and stronger.”
