When author Ben Mears returns to his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood home seeking inspiration for his next book, he discovers that the people in his hometown are mysteriously transforming into blood-sucking vampires.
Nonsensical! This third film adaptation of King’s novel feels repetitive, disjointed, and drawn-out. From a production standpoint, it’s decent—everything looks well-placed. The locations are visually appealing, and the 1975 setting is brought to life with style. However, none of this helps even when the glowing crosses appear. The cast has no chemistry, and the direction is poorly executed. There’s no real tension; on the contrary, there are laughable moments that make you feel like you’re watching Mel Brooks’ Dracula: Dead and Loving It, which is a classic! It’s surprising that Stephen King praised this version, considering that Tobe Hooper’s 1979 adaptation remains far superior.
This new version is entirely unnecessary and just another failure in a long line of remakes.The film is strictly for hardcore Stephen King fans!
