Blumhouse has officially confirmed that Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep) will write, direct, and produce “a bold new take” on The Exorcist, partnering with Blumhouse and Morgan Creek. Following the mixed reception of The Exorcist: Believer, which brought in $65.5M domestically and $136.2M worldwide, this project offers a fresh direction in The Exorcist universe. The film will be produced by Trevor Macy of Intrepid Pictures and Flanagan’s Red Room Pictures, with John Scherer also joining the production on behalf of Intrepid.
