Clayton Kershaw, the 36-year-old legendary pitcher, has opted to waive his $10 million player option with the Los Angeles Dodgers, making him a free agent.
Despite his decision, both Kershaw and the Dodgers have expressed a desire to continue their partnership, aiming to maintain their winning streak.
Kershaw’s recent season was marred by injuries, limiting him to just seven games, where he recorded a 2-2 record and a 4.50 earned run average.
Dodgers General Manager Brandon Gans stated that Kershaw’s decision does not signify a definitive farewell, emphasizing that Kershaw is evaluating his physical condition and family time.
Kershaw reassured fans of his commitment to the Dodgers, stating, “I’ll be back in some capacity,” during the World Series celebration at Dodger Stadium.
The pitcher remains optimistic about his future, expressing confidence in his recovery and plans to continue pitching, including aspirations for the 2025 season.
