Paul Bissonnette, a former NHL player and current analyst, shared details about a recent assault in Arizona. On Episode 533 of Spittin’ Chiclets on Tuesday, he told co-host Ryan Whitney about the incident outside Houston’s restaurant, in Phoenix, Arizona, where he regularly eats.
The trouble started when a group of men (golfers) caused a scene and harassed the staff. One man began intimidating the manager. By this time everyone in the restaurant was watching it but no one was doing anything. So, Bissonnette stepped in to help the staff members.
The situation quickly escalated, and multiple men began attacking him. The fight moved outside, where Bissonnette was surrounded near a CVS dumpster.
[13:24] “I make my way around the dumpster at the CVS, and four of them got me,” Bissonnette said. “They got me on the ground and, like, listen, if you know, if you’re ever in situations like that, if you get caught on the ground, they’re going to start kicking in the head. And if you go unconscious, like, you don’t know what the… consequences are.”
Bissonnette managed to escape and find safety inside the CVS.
“I ate three kicks, one in the neck, two in the head,” he said. “Was able to get up, and now at this point, I have no shoes on. I got my pants, no shirt, and I finally am able to run in the CVS. And then they didn’t come in the CVS.”
Police responded quickly, arresting several individuals.
“Thankfully, the cops were called right away while the thing was going on in Houston’s, and by the time the altercation was done, they were able to book five of these guys, and they got them either, whether it was in county jail or the local jail. And I’ll get their names, boys, and this is going to be a thing like, I’ll, I’ll go after every single one of those f**ks.”
Paul Bissonnette was thankful for not getting “KO’ed on the ground”
Paul Bissonnette praised the restaurant staff and first responders, saying they acted professionally throughout the ordeal. He also expressed frustration and a strong desire to see justice served.
“Thankful they got it all on surveillance (the police). But, like, I’m so fired up right now, I would be willing to wave every single charge if I could go… on one V one every f***ing guy, one after the other,” Bissonnette said. “I’m going to, I’m going to do what I can to ruin these guys’ lives… I kind of want my vengeance at this point.”
Reflecting on the event, Bissonnette said it was a difficult experience but said he wouldn’t change his actions. He felt it was important to stand up for the staff, who had always treated him kindly (he visited the restaurant 2-3 times a week).
“First time I’d ever been in a situation like that… just glad I didn’t get KO’ed on the ground there… I’m glad I caught that bald f**k who is the antagonizer and the one guy in that lime green golf shirt,” Bissonnette added.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and Paul Bissonnette is determined to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
