Max Verstappen has reacted strongly to recent predictions by Sky F1 pundits about the 2025 Formula 1 World Champion. While some analysts backed McLaren’s Lando Norris and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Verstappen remains the favorite for another title defense, but he dismissed the speculation as premature.
During a press event, Verstappen addressed the predictions, saying:“I find it amusing, to be honest. The cars haven’t even hit the track yet, and people are already deciding the champion. Let’s see who performs when it matters most.”
The reigning four-time champion emphasized his focus on preparation rather than speculation:“Red Bull has been consistent, and we aim to stay at the top. But predictions mean nothing until we’re out there competing. Everyone is working hard, but so are we. I’ll let my driving do the talking.”
Sky F1 pundits recently cast their votes for the 2025 title, with several favoring Lando Norris as the next champion, while Charles Leclerc also garnered support. Surprisingly, Lewis Hamilton, now at Ferrari, received no backing from the panel for his record-breaking eighth title pursuit.
Verstappen’s dominance over the past four seasons has set a high standard, but he welcomed the challenge of facing strong rivals:“It’s great for the sport to have competition. Lando, Charles, and George [Russell] are all fantastic drivers. But at the end of the day, the championship is won on the track, not in pundits’ discussions.”
With Red Bull expected to bring another competitive car to the grid in 2025, Verstappen’s confidence remains unshaken. As the season approaches, fans eagerly await the first race to see if predictions hold any merit or if Verstappen will once again prove why he’s been the dominant force in Formula 1.
The first race of the season kicks off in March, and as Verstappen put it:“Let’s see who has the last laugh when the checkered flag waves.”
