Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have officially released the chilling first trailer for The Black Phone: Echoes of the Hollow, the highly anticipated 2025 sequel to the 2021 horror hit The Black Phone. Directed once again by Scott Derrickson, the film promises to dive even deeper into the dark, supernatural forces that haunted audiences in the original — but this time, the stakes are deadlier.

The trailer opens with atmospheric shots of a decaying rural town, where whispers about “the Hollow” — an abandoned mining site — send shivers through the community. Cillian Murphy plays Thomas Graff, a tormented writer who returns to his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood hometown to investigate a string of disappearances eerily similar to those tied to the masked Grabber years ago.

Meanwhile, Noah Jupe takes on the role of Daniel, a teenager who begins receiving mysterious calls on an old black rotary phone hidden deep in the Hollow. The trailer teases chilling moments as Daniel is guided by ghostly voices — believed to be victims trapped between worlds — and forced to confront something even darker lurking beneath the surface.

“The echoes aren’t just memories,” Murphy’s character warns in a tense voiceover. “They’re hungry.”

Fans were quick to light up social media following the trailer drop, praising the haunting atmosphere, the eerie score, and the casting of Murphy as a haunted, morally conflicted lead. Returning cast members, including Madeleine McGraw, reprise their roles, while newcomer Millie Shapiro (Hereditary) joins the ensemble, adding a fresh layer of dread.
