In a spellbinding and blood-drenched reveal, Universal Pictures has released the official trailer for Dracula: Crimson Hunger (2025), a gothic horror reimagining of Bram Stoker’s classic tale, starring Henry Cavill in the title role as the enigmatic and deadly Count Dracula. Directed by acclaimed visionary Robert Eggers, the film promises a visceral, atmospheric return to the roots of vampire mythology—steeped in shadow, seduction, and savagery.

The trailer opens with a chilling whisper: “The night remembers everything.” Thunder cracks over the Carpathian Mountains as Cavill’s Dracula emerges from the mist in full 19th-century regalia, fangs glinting and eyes glowing with a feral hunger.

Set in the 1890s, Crimson Hunger is not a modern vampire story—it’s a return to gothic horror in its purest form. Cavill’s Dracula is both romantic and monstrous, a tragic noble cursed with immortality and insatiable thirst. The trailer teases lavish ballroom scenes juxtaposed with brutal feasts of blood, haunted castles, and desperate cries in candlelit corridors.

Key scenes teased in the trailer include:

  • A reimagined arrival of Jonathan Harker at Castle Dracula, now a decaying fortress buried in fog and screams.

  • A forbidden romance between Dracula and a mysterious widow named Lena Westmore (played by Anya Taylor-Joy), whose blood may awaken the Count’s long-lost humanity.

  • A terrifying carriage chase through the forest, pursued by vampire brides with glowing eyes and bone-chilling shrieks.

  • A dramatic voiceover from Dracula: “I do not 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 out of cruelty… I feed because the world starves me first.”

The film features a haunting score by Jóhann Jóhannsson, blending choral laments with thunderous orchestral violence, adding to the oppressive, romantic dread of the story.

Director Robert Eggers (known for The Witch and The Lighthouse) has described the film as: “A return to nightmare poetry. This Dracula is less a villain and more a curse made flesh.”

Henry Cavill, in his darkest and most complex role yet, has already drawn praise from early test audiences, with some calling his performance “mesmerizingly monstrous.”

Dracula: Crimson Hunger is scheduled to hit theaters on September 26, 2025, just in time to cast its long shadow over the autumn box office—and into your nightmares.
