Harvey Elliott’s future takes unexpected twist as Leverkusen propose surprise deal to Liverpool

It appears Harvey Elliott may have sensed his fate at Anfield. As speculation over his departure intensifies, reports from Germany suggest Bayer Leverkusen are preparing a surprise double-player swap involving both Elliott and promising defender Jarell Quansah in a potential deal for Florian Wirtz — a move that could also help replace outgoing star Jonathan Tah, who is nearing a switch to Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga champions are reportedly keen on both young Liverpool talents and see them as ideal long-term investments to strengthen their squad after two expected high-profile departures.

For Liverpool, the proposal could dramatically reduce the cost of signing Wirtz, whose current valuation is estimated between £115 million and £126 million. With personal terms already agreed between the German playmaker and the Reds — as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano — including Elliott and Quansah in the deal may prove to be a strategic win-win for both clubs.

Amid growing talks, Harvey Elliott took to social media to share a heartfelt message, signaling a likely goodbye to Liverpool fans: “This club will always be part of who I am. I grew up here, learned from the very best, and wore the shirt with pride. If this is goodbye, I want the fans to know — thank you for believing in me. My journey is just beginning, and I’ll carry the Liverpool spirit with me wherever I go.”

Jarell Quansah has yet to comment, but insiders suggest the 21-year-old is open to the idea of a move abroad, especially if it brings regular playing time at a top European club.

Should the deal go through, it would not only help Liverpool secure Wirtz — one of Europe’s most exciting attacking midfielders — but also offer Elliott and Quansah a platform to continue their development at one of the continent’s most forward-thinking clubs.

The Reds are expected to make a final decision on the structure of the deal in the coming weeks, with talks progressing ahead of the official opening of the summer transfer window.
