In a haunting reimagining of Mario Bava’s legendary 1960 gothic horror, Black Sunday (2025) makes its long-awaited return with a chilling first teaser trailer released by Paramount Pictures. This modern adaptation pays homage to the original’s atmospheric dread and iconic imagery while introducing a terrifying new vision for today’s audiences.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Anya Taylor-Joy in a dual role as Princess Asa Vajda and Katia, the film dives deep into the cursed legacy of a 17th-century witch executed in brutal fashion—only to rise again centuries later in a wave of unholy vengeance.

The teaser opens with stark black-and-white flashes of the infamous iron mask being nailed shut, before shifting to saturated reds and shadows—hinting at a stylish yet horrifying blend of old and new.
