After nearly two decades, Keanu Reeves is back in the trench coat. Constantine 2: Ascension has just dropped its first official trailer, and it promises a chilling, action-packed return to the occult underworld of DC’s darkest anti-hero.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, the visionary behind the 2005 original, Ascension dives deeper into the fragile boundary between Heaven, Hell, and Earth. Reeves returns as John Constantine, the chain-smoking exorcist and demonologist with a tortured soul and a sharp tongue.
The trailer opens with eerie silence as Constantine walks through a burning cathedral, whispering ancient Latin under his breath. Visions of angels falling, demons rising, and a blood-soaked Vatican emerge. The stakes are clear: a war between celestial factions is coming—and Constantine is caught in the middle.
“There are things even Hell is afraid of,” Constantine growls in one chilling line.
The sequel introduces Tilda Swinton back as the enigmatic Gabriel and welcomes new cast members including Eva Green as a rogue witch and Chiwetel Ejiofor as a demon prince set on collapsing the mortal world.
With sleek visuals, haunting religious symbolism, and an even darker tone than the first film, Constantine 2 is positioned as a major cornerstone in the growing DC Darkverse, a sub-label focused on mature supernatural stories.
Constantine 2: Ascension will release globally in theaters on October 10, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.
