Lewis Hamilton’s brutal response to Christian Horner’s Red Bull sacking

Lewis Hamilton had his first chance to respond to Christian Horner’s Red Bull sacking and the Ferrari star’s answer raised eyebrows.

Lewis Hamilton has delivered a brutal, blunt response to Christian Horner’s sacking.

The seven-time world champion shrugged off the news in his press conference ahead of the Belgium Grand Prix, The Sun reports.

Horner was axed as Red Bull team principal earlier this month following a string of woeful results at the team.

It was also just over a year on from him twice being cleared by an independent investigation of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ towards a female colleague.

Horner arrived at Red Bull in 2005, two years before Hamilton’s debut, and went on to oversee eight drivers’ title wins and six constructors’ championships.

When asked about the news, Hamilton with a stone-cold look, bluntly replied: “It doesn’t change anything in my life.”

That was followed by an awkward silence.

Former Racing Bulls team boss Laurent Mekies took over the team with immediate effect.

When pressed further on the bombshell news, Hamilton added: “I was neither surprised nor unsurprised.

“What is there to say? I sat with Christian in his office back in 2005 and I was in Formula Three and looking to go into GP2. He was with Arden.

“And I wouldn’t say we hit it off from the get-go, but to see his progression and his career, it was clearly remarkable what he did with the team with a huge group of amazing people.

“To run an organisation that big and that well takes talent and s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 and that is what he brought to the team. I wish him all the best.”

Hamilton and Ferrari are still struggling, with the British driver finishing fourth at Silverstone last time out and without a podium since his move to the Italian team.

Ferrari has not won a title of any kind since a constructors’ championship in 2008, while their last drivers’ title was with Kimi Raikkonen in 2007.

Hamilton said: “The team have had amazing drivers – Kimi, Fernando (Alonso), Sebastian (Vettel) – and yet they didn’t win a title with Ferrari.

“I refuse for that to be the case with me, that’s why I am going the extra mile. If you take the same path, you get the same results.”
