Bryson DeChambeau and WWE legend Triple H were both in attendance at the President’s signing of an executive order to bring back the Presidential fitness test in schools
Triple H consoled Bryson DeChambeau after Donald Trump recalled his disastrous first-round at the Open Championship
Triple H offered support to Bryson DeChambeau after President Donald Trump took a playful jab at his disastrous first-round showing at the Open Championship earlier this month.
On Thursday, DeChambeau and WWE CCO Triple H visited the White House as Trump signed an executive order reinstating the Presidential fitness test in schools. Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker also attended the event, where Trump notably butchered Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s name pronunciation.
While delivering remarks after signing the order, Trump went through each attendee and highlighted their achievements. Despite the close friendship between Trump and DeChambeau, the two-time U.S. Open winner appeared surprised when the President referenced his dismal opening round at Royal Portrush.
“This group is led by two-time major champion and one of the greatest players in the world, one of the highest-ranked, and he just had a phenomenal Open Championship as you probably saw, shooting one round that wasn’t so good and then he came back with a 65 or something,” Trump said.
“He was getting a birdie on every hole. They were worried he might not make the cut, he made the cut by about 200 strokes, it was pretty amazing, and he had a great week, actually.”
During Trump’s lengthy address, Triple H turned around and placed his arm on DeChambeau’s back as both men beamed with smiles. DeChambeau was delighted to hear the President highlight his stronger performance, while the WWE icon seemed to rally behind the LIV Golf player following his disappointing opening round of 78.

DeChambeau bounced back dramatically, surging in the second round with an impressive 65 that secured his spot past the cut. His performance jumped from 147th to 4th in Strokes Gained: Approach across those 18 holes.
Trump carried on with his extensive praise of DeChambeau, declaring: “He’s also the longest hitter of a golf baller, I think ever, but they would say ever. I would say ever, and the longest in the world today.
“He’s Bryson DeChambeau. He’s a great guy. He’s been my friend for a long time, and from his storied amateur career, where he won the U.S. Open Amateur, I think once, a lot of other championships.
“But U.S. Amateur champion. But as you know, he won at Winged Foot the U.S. Open, and at Pinehurst.
“Bryson has always been a phenomenal ambassador to sports and to golf, but generally to life in my opinion. He’s a smart guy and a good guy, great guy. Loves our country.”
DeChambeau seized the moment to step up to the podium and commend the program along with Trump’s support. He walked to the microphone and declared: “To be honest, I never thought that this opportunity would have been here, right at our doorstep.
“We have an opportunity at being the 70th Anniversary of the President’s council on sports, fitness, and nutrition to literally change the fabric of kids’ lives, and our first initiative is to bring back and reignite the President’s fitness test and also re-establish some key other metrics on guidelines around building some communities and also, again with the President’s iniatives around college, we think we can help in that regard too.
“But we’ve got a great established council with us, that we believe we can change the fabric of our communities and kids’ livelihoods for the future generations that are to come.”
