J.J. Spaun very nearly won another tournament, falling to Justin Rose in a thrilling three-hole playoff at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Spaun has seen his career take a massive U-turn in the last two years, with the star having considered ending his PGA Tour career if his 2024 season had not panned out the way he wanted to. However, the 34-year-old powered through, raking in an impressive U.S. Open victory, his first Major.

Throughout his journey, his wife, Melody Spaun, was on hand to experience the highs and lows of his career, which now includes his first Major victory. Melody Spaun also saw the PGA Tour star’s net worth balloon to heights it had never been before. It comes after we revealed Rose’s relationship with an international gymnast who sparked a “mystery blone” riddle with another golf mega-star.

Before his U.S. Open triumph, J.J. Spaun matched up against Rory McIlroy in a Players Championship duel, which would have netted him an additional $4.5 million. At the time, the 34-year-old reported a net worth of just $5 million.

That said, the star’s U.S. Open win netted him $4.3 million, and his most recent outing at the FedEx St. Jude Championship – finishing second behind Rose – earned him another $2.16 million. Considering how successful J.J. Spaun has been this season, it is not outside the realm of possibility that his net worth has more than doubled since that time.

Meanwhile for Melody Spaun, the mother of their two 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren has been supporting the star through the previous downs of his career to now the ups of his current run. For Melody, who married J.J. in 2019, seeing his triumph at Oakmont filled her with emotion.

“Honestly, I feel like he’s always been the underdog, and he’s finally proved himself,” she revealed after the 34-year-old’s U.S. Open win, per Yahoo Sports!. “He finally feels like he belongs here, and he’s showing it.”

That said, while the couple appears to be very close, a moment between the two after the U.S. Open caused fans to call it an “awkward” interaction between the husband and wife.

After winning the prestigious tournament, fans noticed that J.J. Spaun immediately went to his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, two daughters, to celebrate, with some believing the star was ignoring his partner during the festivities. “Search ‘JJ Spaun wife.’ Glad it’s not just our living room who all think he and his wife must not be getting along. Man that was awkward,” a fan on X wrote.

Another added: “JJ Spaun at no point even acknowledged his wife after winning.” That said, J.J. Spaun did kiss his wife after the win but the initial interaction between the two was noticed by fans who watched the proceedings.

What’s more, the PGA Tour star lauded his wife for being a steady presence as he continued to pursue his dreams.

“My wife had to deal with all of the stress of getting the girls there and making sure they looked cute for TV,” he told Us Magazine. “Having to run out at the right time and be presentable. I know it was stressful for her.

“She didn’t hit a shot, but she’s feeling drained just being the backbone of our whole family.”

He added: “My hat’s off to her for being such a huge support and understanding all these steps of my journey, learning as she goes. And then also raising two 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren where at times I’m gone for a month, you know? Basically single parenting.

“There are so many times when we miss each other, we can’t be together, because I’m on the road and she’s trying to raise these two girls by herself while I’m trying to make a living and provide for them. There’s tons of sacrifice. But that’s kind of what leads to moments like this where you get to celebrate all that sacrifice and hard work. It’s all paid off.”
