Steve Burton ‘Cheerleader’ for Getting Kelly Thiebaud Back on GH

The ABC soap star advocated for a JaBritt reunion.

After two alleged deaths and two cast exits, General Hospital fans are getting a Jason and Britt romance in the near future. The potential pairing was squashed in 2021 when Jason was supposedly 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed in the Cassadine tunnels in Greece.

Fast forward almost four years, and Jason (Steve Burton) has been alive and back in Port Charles for over a year. Now Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) is back from the dead, too, after getting hooked by the hook 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er, aka Heather (Alley Mills), and saving Josslyn (Eden McCoy). Next week’s spoilers for GH reveal that Jason has one thing on his mind, and it has everything to do with finding out the truth about Britt.

JaBritt’s Second Chance

Thiebaud was a guest on Burton’s That’s Awesome Podcast with his co-host and co-star Bradford Anderson. The three are thrilled to be working together again, leading Burton to spill some tea on how he helped get Thiebaud back to GH.

“They’ve been toying putting me with people on the show and not putting me with people. Michelle was like, ‘Just get Britt back!” And I’m like, ‘OK!’ I know there’s been times where you [Kelly] have talked to GH. I was a big cheerleader of getting Kelly to come back to this continent and come back to General Hospital because I just feel like there’s a story that needs to be told. I’m excited she’s back. She’s a beast. Britt’s a beast too, in a different way. It’s going to be a fun story,” Burton shared.

The actor also addressed the reason that JaBritt got cut short. It was, of course, because of his exit in 2021, which, as fans know, had to do with the COVID vaccine mandate.

“Obviously, everyone knew why I left when I left the show. It definitely felt that Kelly, and I had great momentum. It was a couple that was kind of just thrown together, and they’re like, ‘Hey, this is working and this is fun and it’s cool.’  Then I [Jason] die in a Greek cave somewhere. It felt like it got cut short, for sure,” he expressed.

Burton was thrilled to return in 2024. It’s Thiebaud’s to be excited about her comeback. She’s looking forward to giving JaBritt the chance they were robbed of getting before. Thiebaud admitted the couple has a lot of “unfinished business,” especially since they both thought the other was dead.
