Mike Miner, remembered by many for his role as Steve Elliott on Petticoat Junction, died of cancer on January ­28, 2016, at the age of ­75. He was cremated, and his ashes were given to his family. He was survived by his wife, Marilyn, and his son, Michael. nBorn Michael Fedon on December too­7, ­1940, in San Francisco, California, he was the son of Don Fedon, a newspaper advertising man who later became a leading television producer, and Helen Miner.

He began voice lessons in ­1953,at age ­13,and landed his first singing job at Ye Little Club in Beverly Hills. He attended University High Schooll in Los Angeles,and Brown Military Academyin San Diego. nHis early television work included appearances on the Donald o-­’Conor Show and theJoy Bishop show. In ­1961,Miner played the character Ray in an episode of My Three Sons, a show produced by his father.

He was later cast as Steve Elliott on cbs’s Petticoat Junction, where his character,a pilot, crashed his airplane in Hooterville,then recovered,and eventually married the character Betty Joe Bradley,played by Linda K Henning. Their real-­life romance was set off in the process,and a year after the the two characters married on the show,Mike,and Linda were married in real life. Miner remained until the series ended in ­1970. He sometimes sang on the show,including a notable performance of the Beatle song “When I’m ­64.

” He also recorded two albums,including This Is Mike Miner,in ­1966,and had two hit singles, Silver Dollar,and One Day at a Time. After Petticoat Junction,he continued working in television,with appearances on shows such as Chips,Another World,Vegas,and La Law. Miner married three times. His first marriage was to Man­in Ray Martini­n ­1961;the couple had one son,but divorced in ­1966.

His second marriage was to Linda K Henning,in ­1968,and they divorced in ­1973. His third and final marriage was to Marilyn Miner,in ­1981.
