Floyd Mayweather is once again in the spotlight, but this time it’s for all the wrong reasons. The boxing legend is facing a staggering $6.65 million lawsuit, as allegations surface about his failure to fulfill agreements related to high-profile fights against Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao.

According to court documents filed in New York, boxing promoter CSI Entertainment claims they paid Mayweather $4.65 million in advance for these anticipated bouts, only for him to back out. The lawsuit, which was obtained by TMZ Sports, alleges that Mayweather’s management company, First Apex Ventures, received the funds to secure exclusive rights for the fights. However, after receiving a separate advance of $150,000, Mayweather reportedly announced a different matchup against Greek boxer Mike Zambidis instead of Tyson.
CSI Entertainment further claims that Mayweather secretly inked a deal with another company to stream the Pacquiao fight on Netflix, leaving them in the lurch after investing considerable resources into promoting both events. They are not only seeking financial restitution but also requesting the court to prevent Mayweather from participating in the upcoming Zambidis fight and to halt the Netflix event, citing a breach of their exclusive agreement.
This legal battle adds to Mayweather’s mounting troubles, including a separate lawsuit against his former manager for $175 million, which he alleges involves fraud. Reports suggest that Mayweather is also facing financial scrutiny, with claims that he owes the IRS around $7 million.
While Mayweather has publicly denied the allegations surrounding a bounced check for $200,000 to a luxury watch retailer, the ongoing legal issues paint a concerning picture of his financial management. Critics have raised eyebrows at his lavish lifestyle, reportedly costing him between $1 million to $3 million monthly, leading to questions about his ability to maintain such an extravagant way of living without consistent fight income.
As the situation unfolds, it raises a critical question: Can Mayweather navigate through these turbulent waters, or are we witnessing a turning point in the life of one of boxing’s greatest champions?
