Babysitter Confessed to Sexually Assaulting and Killing 2-Year-Old: Police

A babysitter’s horrifying confession has rocked a St. Louis community after police revealed that 21-year-old Nico Cotton admitted to sexually assaulting and killing 2-year-old Brian Wells. The tragic incident unfolded on October 27, when Brian was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at a hospital, leaving his family and friends grappling with a nightmare scenario.

Brian, described as a joyful and vibrant toddler, was left in the care of Cotton, the boyfriend of his mother, Bianca Wells. Believing her son was safe, Bianca went to work, unaware of the horror that would soon unfold. Just hours later, police received a frantic call reporting a child in distress. Upon arrival, they rushed Brian to the hospital, but it was too late.

The investigation took a chilling turn when the medical examiner’s report revealed signs of strangulation and sexual assault, categorizing Brian’s death as a homicide. The autopsy indicated multiple internal injuries, including a lacerated liver, leading authorities to classify the death as the result of brutal abuse.

Facing overwhelming evidence, Cotton turned himself in on October 30 and confessed to the horrific details of the crime. He is now charged with second-degree murder, forcible sodomy, statutory sodomy, and child abuse resulting in death. The specifics of his confession are so disturbing that they are difficult to comprehend, involving graphic descriptions of the assault and the child’s tragic end.

Bianca Wells, heartbroken and devastated, expressed her anguish, stating, “It feels like my heart is shattered. It doesn’t feel like I have air in my lungs right now.” She has urged families to support one another, sharing her grief as a cautionary tale for others.

As the case unfolds, the community is left grappling with the unimaginable loss of a child whose laughter and joy have been replaced by tragedy. Nico Cotton remains in custody, facing a future that could hold decades in prison if convicted. The legal proceedings will now focus on the chilling details of the case, with the prosecution seeking justice for a young life taken far too soon.
