Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman narrowly avoided a serious injury after taking a slapshot to the face from teammate Evan Bouchard during a 3-1 win over the Florida Panthers last week.

Although he suffered a broken nose, Hyman made a quick return to the ice on Thursday, contributing two points in the Oilers’ 3-2 overtime win against the Boston Bruins while sporting a bandage on his nose.

Continuing his strong performance, Hyman scored in the Oilers’ 3-1 win over the Senators on Sunday. He has now netted in six straight games, becoming the sixth Oilers player with multiple six-game scoring streaks.

Hyman shared his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren’s amusing reaction to his injury, noting that they had initially asked what happened but have since accepted it as the “new normal” while he heals.

“They’re so funny. The first day, they were (like) “What happened?”. After that, they haven’t even asked, (they’re like) oh, this is it. This is the new normal for now. It’s healing up, lost the (nose) guard today.”

Zach Hyman and his wife, Alannah Mozes, are parents to three sons, the youngest being Camden.

Zach Hyman’s Edmonton Oilers ended six-game winning streak

The Edmonton Oilers faced off against the Ottawa Senators at Rogers Place on Sunday, securing a 3-1 victory that ended the Senators’ six-game winning streak.

Victory Arvidsson opened the scoring for the Oilers at 14:25 of the first period, the only goal scored in that period. Just 25 seconds into the second period, Nick Cousins equalized for the Senators.

It marked the first points for Arvidsson in three games after returning from a 15-game absence.

“I just tried to hit it as hard as I could into the net,” said Arvidsson via NHL.com. I tried to be ready when I came back. I’ve been hurt a lot in the last two years. I think I’m ready, and I feel ready, so it feels good.”

However, Zach Hyman quickly regained the lead for the Oilers with a power play goal at 14:05. Adam Henrique added goal for the Oilers 1:38 into the third period, solidifying their comfortable win.

Zach Hyman has racked up 19 points through 13 goals and six assists in 29 games this season. The Oilers return to the ice against the LA Kings (19-10-5) at the Crypto.com Arena next on Saturday.
