The first half was the Take Kubo show but the second half was very much the extravaganza we’ve all seen so many times before: The Real Madrid revival, as Carlo Ancelotti’s side came back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 and stay at the top of the table with a 100 percent record.
Jude Bellingham played another 90 minutes and for the first time failed to score although he nearly managed it in the last minute of the game. Showing once more his extraordinary stamina he powered into the six-yard box at the start of injury time and got his head to cross from substitute Brahim Diaz. His first attempt was blocked and he couldn’t quite poke the rebound home.
It didn’t matter with Madrid holding their 2-1 lead having gone behind in a first half dominated by a former Madrid player.
Real Sociedad were ahead after just five minutes when Kubo skipped down the right and crossed for Ander Barrenetxea to score at the second attempt. His first effort was parried by Kepa Arrizabalaga but the rebound squirmed past him.
Kubo then scored a cracker but the offside flag cut short the celebrations with Real Sociedad bodies offside and blocking Kepa’s sight line.
Joselu netted Real Madrid’s winner against Real Sociedad as they maintained their perfect start to the LaLiga season
Jude Bellingham played another 90 minutes for his new side and for the first time failed to score, though did come close
Kubo was at it again just before half time when he crossed for Mikel Merino and only a fine save from Kepa prevented Real Sociedad doubling their lead.
Joselu hit the bar at the other end for Madrid and Alex Remiro saved well from Rodrygo but Madrid – still missing the injured Vinicius – were struggling to break down the visitors.
Kubo finished off his first half spectacular with a nutmeg on Toni Kroos no less. He could have taken a bow there and then and disappeared in a cloud of smoke – instead Real Sociedad’s magician was dumped on the turf by a frustrated Kroos foul.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side moved back to the top of the league table as they registered their fifth win in a row
Federico Valverde scored just after half time as he finished first time from Fran Garcia’s cross
Madrid improved in the second period and Fede Valverde had them level just a minute after the break. It was a cross from Fran Garcia and he dispatched it first time with a clean and clinical shot off the post.
Madrid were in front on the hour and it was Fran Garcia doing the damage again.
Madrid’s young left-back crossed for Joselu to leap and score with a trademark centre-forward’s header past Remiro.
Bellingham dribbled to the edge of the area and was brought down but Kroos could not score from the free-kick. Real Sociedad had late chances but Momo Cho sliced a volley wide and Kepa saved well from Barrenetxea as Madrid made it five wins from five.
