Henry Cavill announced his departure from The Witcher late last year.
The 40-year-old actor has played Geralt in the Netflix fantasy series since the start and fans were shocked at the news – as were his co-stars, who actually didn’t find out until months after they wrapped filming.
In a new interview, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey, revealed that the news hit them months after they wrapped filming, and it wasn’t Henry who told them, but their show creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
“We found out quite a few months after,” Freya shared with Insider. “We just wrapped a season like any other season and I think we were all exhausted. We’ve all put in so much hard work and really kept as a team throughout the whole process, so it was nice lasting memories.”
She added that “we found out quite after so it wasn’t really like we knew at the time.”
In a separate interview, Therica Wilson-Read opened up about Liam Hemsworth taking over the role.
“He’s wonderful and he played a wonderful Geralt. No one can deny that. I think everyone in the cast and crew just wish him all the best,” she said of Henry, before adding that “Liam is also a wonderful actor and a wonderful human being just like Henry is.”
