Could a sequel to John Carpenter’s iconic sci-fi horror, The Thing, be in the pipeline? At Texas Frightmare Weekend 2023, when probed about the fate of Keith David’s character, Childs, in the original film, Carpenter played it mysterious, hinting at the possibility of a sequel without confirming anything:
“I have been sworn to secrecy, okay, because there may be, I don’t know if there will be, there may be a Thing 2.”
Rumors of a sequel have circulated for some time, but no concrete details have emerged. Yet, Carpenter has occasionally dropped hints that suggest the project could be moving forward, stating last year, “There are updates, but I’m bound not to discuss them.”
