Phil Mickelson Finally Fulfil His Retirement Plans Even Before Hanging His Clubs: ‘Connecting With Fans’

Lefty has not left the greens just yet, but his after-scene dreams are coming through! In May, Phil Mickelson hinted at retirement in an interview with Bloomberg TV and said that at the age of 53, his career was dwindling. The same month, he exploded with a plan as to what will take up his time after retirement and it will surely be golf only.

The 53-year-old replied to Chris McKee, a golf writer, who had suggested that the LIV pro would be an excellent golf analyst and broadcaster. Mickelson had denied that option and went for more of a Bryson DeChambeau path. He had proposed an idea of the Pros vs Schmos series, battling out in 9-hole fun gameplay, where he would be talking smack and post it on YouTube. Now, after two months, that idea has come to fruition.

The first episode will be shot in Chicago, LIV Golf’s individual championship venue and Mickelson will have his HyFlyers GC teammate, Andy Ogletree, with him. Mickelson described it as a way of “connecting with the fans” in a way that has not been done before as he thanked LIV Golf for the opportunity. McKee posted the entire conversation on X as they showed that Mickelson first talked about the ideation as a reply to him.

Back in May, Phil Mickelson responded to my Tweet saying he will make an excellent broadcaster when he decides to retire. @PhilMickelson said he had no plans to be a broadcaster but instead would create a pro’s vs schmo’s YouTube series. Its finally coming to fruition. #LIVGolf pic.twitter.com/c23yfCIR4M

Polls of the day

Do you think Phil Mickelson should retire now or keep playing?

Do you think missing out on $20 million was actually beneficial for Jordan Spieth?

No, he missed a huge opportunity

Absolutely not, it was a disaster

Which bizarre golf cart would you most want to drive?

What makes the BMW Championship venue at 6,000 feet so unique?

So it seems, there will be two LIV Golf pros dominating the YouTube golf content and bringing out a different side to the game of golf. While Mickelson has fulfilled one of his dreams that he wanted to do after retirement, there is another thing that Lefty revealed he would opt for once he hung the clubs.

What other retirement plan does Phil Mickelson have?

It has been more than three decades since Phil Mickelson entered the world of golf. He has made many memories down the highs and lows of his career and now he may bid adieu to the game, yet, Lefty would be in a way always connected to the game. He once shared that the game provided him with a different kind of solace and peace, which he was grateful for.

But as the time comes closer and the 6-time major winner has to say goodbye to professional golf, Mickelson revealed that he would now help other golfers. He said, Now, I would like to help others find the same enjoyment and fulfillment that the game of golf has provided me… There’s so many great things about the game of golf and I would love others to experience those things.”

It is not like Mickelson has not been doing that already. The 53-year-old took many under his wings, including the 2-time major champion Jon Rahm and the PGA Tour phenom, Akshay Bhatia. The latter even called Lefty his “big brother” because of all the things he had done for him. With Mickelson’s p
